Under the general direction of the Dean, Enterprise Supervisor manages the Training Based Enterprise to support the training programmes, internship and incubator by the provision of quality industry-based training opportunities, while ensuring the financial viability of its operation.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
1. General Duties
a. Develop, implement and manage operational systems, procedures and standards to guide the operations of the Training Based Unit/Enterprise
b. Prepare and manage the operational plan and annual budget for the Enterprise
c. Manage and monitor work schedules ensuring the effective utilisation of staff, and resources and the completion of jobs in accordance with established quality standards
d. Manage, oversee and provide the maintenance of accurate records of the operation’s physical resources
e. Prepares and submits activity/performance and other reports as required
f. Manage, develop and implement security and maintenance systems to protect the equipment, supplies and products of the Institution (in consultation with Security and Maintenance Personnel)
g. Monitor the utilisation of supplies/materials and institutes systems to ensure timely replenishment to avoid production/service delays
h. Oversee the preparation and maintenance of inventory system of machinery, equipment and supplies; investigate variances and take/recommend corrective actions where necessary in accordance with established procedures
i. Ensures the collections of payments from debtors
j. Keeps abreast of trends in technology and other industry developments and support their integration where necessary
k. Plans and coordinates the execution of developmental workshops/seminars/ conferences for the Enterprise
l. Develops, implements and review strategic business plan/s required for the Unit in accordance with the prescribed mission and goals
m. Manage systems and procedures which support internship programmes
n. Manage systems and procedures for the development and sustainability of the incubator by liaising with industry partners and monitors the contracts with the performance of Incubates
o. Provide leadership and motivation to team members in the Enterprise
p. Plan, direct and coordinate activities and resources across multiple locations to ensure that project goal is accomplished on time, within budget and meet business objectives.
q. Develop and implement policies, and procedures for entrepreneurial skills development, facilitating the development of the entrepreneurial attitude and spirit among staff and students
r. Manage the maximum utilisation of resources necessary to enable the Enterprise to function as a quality Learning Resource Centre
s. Negotiates technical and financial agreements with external customers
t. Prepare and submit to the Director/Principal, monthly status report
u. Ensure that projects undertaken adhere to established legal requirements
v. Ensure adherence to Workplace Health and Safety requirements
2. Human Resource Management Duties
a. Conduct Performance Appraisals and recommends training and other developmental programmes for staff under the span of control
b. Manage the recruitment process for staffing the Enterprise and recommend transfer, promotion, termination and approve leave in accordance with established Human Resource Policies and procedures
c. Provide leadership and guidance to staff through effective planning, delegation, communication and training
d. Ensure staff awareness and conformity with the rules and regulations of the Enterprise, Institutions and the Organisation
e. Ensure the welfare and developmental needs of staff are identified and addressed
3. Marketing and Customer Service
a. Develops and implements an effective marketing programme for the Enterprise.
b. Periodically reviews pricing strategy and initiates/recommends changes where necessary to maintain competitiveness and adequate returns on investment.
c. Develops and implements a customer service programme to monitor and ensure the delivery of quality service to internal and external customers.
d. Establishes, implements and maintains a quality assurance programme for the Enterprise.
a. Assists with the development of a culture of entrepreneurship among trainees and staff.
b. Assists with the planning and development of training programmes within the area of specialisation.
c. Represents the Institute at meetings, conferences and other fora as requested.
d. Performs other related duties that may be assigned.
e. Adhere to all Public Service codes, rules and regulations
f. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in a Technical Area (core business of the
• Bachelor’s Degree in Management
• Training in Project Management
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a technical area, two (2) of which should be at a supervisory level.
SALARY: Grade 8.1 - $51,147.50 per annum plus allowances
