Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Chief Protocol Officer must be a strategic thinker with meticulous attention to detail, skilled at managing staff, working well under pressure, and meeting deadlines. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment. To ensure success, the CPO should be innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving excellence in service and support.

Core Functions:

  • Liaising with Foreign Missions accredited to the Turks and Caicos Islands as well as International and Regional Organizations
  • Offer guidance and advice to other ministries and departments
  • Arrangement of and extending to Foreign Dignitaries the conventional courtesies
  • Organization of State and Official Ceremonies, Funerals, and Receptions
  • Organizations of conferences and meetings where local and foreign dignitaries are expected to be in attendance
  • Research, collection, and collation of data
  • Advice, guidance, and assistance to the private sector in protocol matters i.e., business agencies, churches, charities etc.
  • Publication of the Turks and Caicos Islands Dignitaries List annually
  • Drafting and subsequent issuance of National Day and General Messages to friendly and neighbouring countries
  • Preparation of documents that carry diplomatic implications
  • Preparation of documents and credentials for Turks and Caicos Islands Government Officials attending Conferences and official functions overseas
  • Oversight of documents relating to agreements, instruments of full powers and ratification, joint communiqués and diplomatic press releases
  • Oversight of visits by Heads of State, Heads of Governments, and other Official visits to the Turks and Caicos Islands
  • Attendance and protocol oversight at official gatherings
  • Oversight and management/safe-keeping of gifts in conjunction with visits of dignitaries to the Turks and Caicos Islands
  • Oversight and management of Protocol Taskforce consisting of part-time, trained protocol officers who provide assistance with large events
  • Management of the arrival, departure, and ground transportation for visiting dignitaries
  • Oversight of the Government’s VIP Lounges at various international airports
  • Oversight and management of government’s official invitation lists for events
  • Oversight of training exercises for full time and part-time protocol officers and assistants to ensure their knowledge of skills required is well-maintained

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications:              

  • A bachelor’s degree in relevant field or discipline. The successful candidate must have the ability to travel internationally and through the United States.

Experience:                   

  • The position requires a minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years on the job experience in Internal and External Communication, Government Affairs with specific experience in Logistics & Protocol Management to acquire the necessary competencies to respond effectively to the challenges of the job. Experience in the public sector is desirable.

SALARY: Grade 9.1 - $61,934.60 per annum
