2019/2020 CIVIL SERVICE RECRUITMENT PLAN OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED
Following the passage of the 2019/2020 Budget in May 2019, the Office of the Deputy Governor is pleased to formally launch its Recruitment Plan for 2019/2020.
Commenting on the Recruitment Plan for the year ahead Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service Her Excellency Anya Williams said; “We are pleased to formally launch our recruitment plan for financial year 2019/2020. During the 2018/2019 financial year a total of two hundred and ninety four (294) positions were advertised which consisted of new posts, promotions and vacancies due to exits from within the public service. In response to these advertisements, a total of two thousand and twenty five (2,025) applications was received and processed; demonstrating a strong interest in public service positions and resulting in one hundred and five (105) new starters, twenty nine (29) promotions and fifty two (52) exits from the civil service during the same period.
We commend our staff in the HR Department and across the various ministries for the stellar job that they did in progressing the 2018/2019 recruitment plan and look forward to even greater results in 2019/2020. As recruitment is a continuous process due to movements within the civil service, an estimated 250 positions are likely to be advertised during the 2019/2020 financial year including 39 new positions. The first recruitment batch was launched in May, 2019 ahead of the passage of the budget and included 37 posts which represented 52 vacancies and drew 390 applications.
The second and current recruitment batch seeks to fill some 67 new and vacant positions and focuses on a number of key sectors including: Education, Health, Finance and Border Control and Labour. The Turks and Caicos Government remains the largest employer in the Turks and Caicos Islands with a budgeted headcount of two thousand two hundred and forty two (2,242) positions; including three hundred and twenty seven (327) posts assigned to the Police. One thousand nine hundred and twenty three (1,923) of these positions are established, while three hundred and nineteen (319) posts are held by non-established (waged) workers.
