CONSULTATION ON PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSUMER PROTECTION ORDINANCE

The Turks and Caicos Islands Government recognizes the importance of ensuring the rights of consumers, fair trade, competition and the dissemination of accurate information in the marketplace. As such, the Consumer Protection Ordinance (Ordinance 37 of 2016) was passed in 2016.

The Consumer Protection Ordinance has recently been made subject to proposed amendments to facilitate its entry into force. The general public is therefore invited to provide feedback on the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Bill 2019.

The Consumer Protection (Amendment) Bill 2019 is accessible via the splash page of the Turks and Caicos Islands Government website at www.gov.tc. Persons may also access the Consumer Protection Ordinance on the webpage of the Attorney General’s Chambers at https://www.gov.tc/agc/laws/annual-laws/2016-laws/2016-ordinances.

Alternatively, comments may be submitted in hardcopy to: The Department of Trade, Industry and Consumer Affairs, Treasury Building, Downtown, Providenciales or The Ministry of Finance, Trade and Investment, Durham’s Building, Lighthouse Road, Grand Turk.

All submissions should be clearly marked “Feedback on Consumer Protection (Amendment) Bill”.

Consultation closes on 22 July 2019.
