CONSULTATION-ELECTRICITY AMENDMENT BILL 2019

The Energy and Utilities Department would like to remind the public of the August 15th  deadline for the receipt of comments and feedback on the Draft Electricity (Amendment Bill) 2019.

The Bill seeks to enable targeted and essential electricity sector reform by modernizing the legal and regulatory framework of the Turks and Caicos Islands, specifically to provide for the:

  1. The development and increased use of renewable energy;
  2. The interconnection of renewable energy generating systems to the electricity grid;
  3. Implementation of legislation for integrated resource planning and for regulatory approval process governing the electricity service provider capital expansion plans;
  4. Changing of the power cost adjustment to an Energy Charge.

Alternatively, comments may be submitted in hardcopy addressed to the Energy and Utilities Commissioner, Energy and Utilities Department, located at South Base Grand Turk. 

 

Submissions on the island of Providenciales can be delivered to the George Brown Post Office located in Down Town Providenciales.

 

Submissions must be clearly marked Feedback on the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2019.
