Logistics Supply System (LSS) Training
The Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME), in collaboration with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), will be hosting a three (3) day training in Logistic Supply System (LSS) from August 12-14, 2019. The training will be held at the Ethel Ingham Centre (Old Police Canteen), Airport Road, Providenciales; at 8:30am to 4:30pm daily.
LSS is an international system used to improve transparency and accountability in the management and distribution of humanitarian aid. This system allows for detailed up-to-date reports to be prepared on the status of supplies to guide decision making by authorities and humanitarian/donor agencies.
Therefore, the primary objective of this training is to strengthen national capacity to effectively manage humanitarian aid, whilst bringing them to affected communities in an adequate and convenient way. The training is designed for persons who will be:
- Responsible for inventory/warehouse management;
- Assigned to manage and distribute relief items during emergencies.
Mr. Cecil "Alex" Jeffrey from the Department of Disaster Management in the British Virgin Islands will be facilitating the three-day training. Mr. Jeffrey was born in the British Virgin Islands where he has been employed at the Department of Disaster Management for the past seventeen (17) years. Mr. Jeffrey is currently the Community Relations Officer/ Logistics Officer, a Certified LSS Trainer and has been deployed to several disaster areas as part of the PAHO Regional Response Team.
