The Department of Library Services recognize that the implementation of the 24 hour curfew due to COVID-19 was sudden and so many patrons would not have had the opportunity to get some additional reading materials. The Department would however like to inform all its members and the general public of a number of FREE online resources that are available to fulfil their Educational, Informational and Recreational needs.

 

The main online resource is EBSCO which the Turks and Caicos Library Service maintains an annual subscription. The login details are as follows:

 EBSCO is a database containing the full text of over 6,000 scholarly and trade journals, magazines, and newsletters. The Library’s subscription presently provides access to over 44,000 e-books and includes databases on Caribbean search, Learning Express, the Science Centre, Do it Yourself improvement and Master file complete

The publishing partners of Big Timber Media are offering free access to a variety of eBooks through to June 30. These bundles are web-hosted, which means accessing your eBooks requires an internet connection.

  1. https://www.pdfdrive.com/

PDF Drive is a search engine for PDF files. It offers over 112 million e-books for free   download.

  1. https://openlibrary.org/

Open Library is a catalogue that provides access to 1.7 million scanned versions of books. These may be books in print or out of print.

  1. https://www.gutenberg.org/

Project Gutenberg is a Library with over 60,000 free e-books
