Illegal Sloop Intercepted

The Ministry of Border Control and Employment and the Immigration Department confirm that an illegal vessel was intercepted near Providenciales by the Marine Branch of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force on the morning of April 26, 2018.

At approximately 1:25 am information was received from the Radar Station stating that a target has been spotted about four miles off Providenciales.

Around 2:00 am Officers of the Marine Branch intercepted an blue and white 20 foot fiberglass boat with two inboard engines. The vessel carried a total of forty (40) persons namely thirty two (32) males and eight (8) females.

These persons were handed over to the Enforcement Unit and escorted to the Detention Center to be detained and later processed.

This was the first interception since upgrades were undertaken on the Radar Station.

The Enforcement agencies of the Turks and Caicos Islands are asking that anyone with information concerning this landing or planned arrival of other sloops to contact the Police anonymously on 911 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1-800-8477.
