The Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) will be hosting a series of intensive Emergency Operation Centre training across the islands. Over the period February 11th – 21st, 2019, the proposed schedule for the training workshops are as follows:-
i)Providenciales: February 11th – 13th, 2019;
ii)North and Middle Caicos: February 14th – 15th, 2019;

The EOC is the command centre, where island and/or national response and early recovery efforts are coordinated in support of the incident operational tasks. Taking into consideration the multi-island context of the Turks and Caicos Islands, this specialized training seeks to improve the capacity of the National Disaster Response System by promoting a uniformed, multi-agency approach during emergency/disaster events. Participants will learn and exercise essential functions including communication links, activation and demobilization, staffing issues and managing operational information.
This EOC training embodies the continuation of the strong cooperation developed between DDME and key agencies at the national level, as well as the already established Regional Response Mechanism by CDEMA for the Caribbean Region. The facilitator for the training workshops will be Brigadier General (Retired) Earl Arthurs, MVO MBE JP, who is currently the Emergency Management Specialist at CDEMA.
The DDME remains committed to building resilience through collective efforts to identify needs and resources, and to coordinate before a disaster occurs, a community can significantly improve its resilience to disaster.
