All Overseas Territories Leaders made representation at the conference to discuss and agree on pertinent matters and to discuss the format of the Joint Ministerial Conference that will be held in London, UK later this year.
During the meeting, Overseas Territories discussed a number of topics including: -
- Gateway Science and Environment Funding
- Border Issues
- Mental Health
- UK Oceans Policy
- Foreign Affairs Committee (FAC) Report and UK Government’s response
OTs all expressed a united stance on all of the issues raised. At the end of the meeting, OTs agreed that a letter should be submitted to the Minister of State for the UK Foreign Commonwealth Office, Lord Ahmad ahead of the Joint Ministerial Conference 2019 outlining priority agenda items.
The Pre JMC was launched as an initiative of the United Kingdom Overseas Territory Association (UKOTA). UKOTA exists to promote the interests of the Territories and the co-operation between them. Specifically, UKOTA demonstrates the collective and individual partnerships between the Territories and the UK Government.
Premier Robinson along with other OT leaders will be attending the Joint Ministerial Conference in London in November.
