…BUT STILL EXPECTED TO BE A HEAVY RAINFALL EVENT…
A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for the entire Turks and Caicos Islands.
A Tropical Storm Watch means that Tropical Storm conditions could be experienced in the mentioned area in this case within 24 hours.
At 400 PM EST, the disturbance was centered near Latitude 18.7 degrees north and Longitude 77.7 degrees west, or about 410 miles southwest of Providenciales, Turk and Caicos Islands. The system is moving faster toward the northeast near 17 mph and an additional acceleration toward the northeast is expected through the weekend. On the forecast track, the center of the system is expected to move across Jamaica this afternoon, Southeastern Cuba by early Saturday, and the Southeastern Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands on Saturday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is possible during the next couple of days, but the system’s chance of becoming a tropical cyclone appears to be decreasing.
POSSIBLE IMPACTS

RAINFALL: 2 to 4 inches of rain are expected across the Turks and Caicos Islands through Sunday morning. Periods of heavy rains are expected on Saturday. Heavy rains can produce localized flooding of roads, properties, and communities.
SEAS: Rough seas and waves of 6 to 9 feet are across the Turks and Caicos Islands. Marine conditions will not be suitable for beachgoers and small crafts over the weekend. Minor coastal flooding is possible in areas of onshore winds along the southeastern coasts of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The next Advisory on Potential Tropical Cyclone Twenty-two will be issued at 9am EST Saturday 18 November, 2023.
