public notice: tropical weather outlook november 02 2024

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK:  There are currently three area of interest.1) Southwestern Caribbean Sea: A broad area of low pressure over the southwestern Caribbean Sea has a high, or 80 percent chance of tropical cyclone formation through the next seven (7) days. A tropical depression is likely to develop by early next week as the system moves generally north and westwards.  2) Greater Antilles/Near the Southeast Bahamas: A trough of low pressure extending near Puerto Rico has a low, or 10 percent chance of tropical cyclone formation through the next seven (7) days. Locally heavy rains are possible across the Southeast Bahamas over the next few days, as the system moves across the area, before being absorbed by the larger low pressure system in the Southwestern Caribbean Sea.  3) North Atlantic: Newly formed Subtropical Storm Patty 420 miles west-northwest of the Azores. Maximum sustained winds of 50 mph moving east-southeast at 7 mph. Patty is expected to degenerate into a post-tropical cyclone by late Sunday.
