PREMIER EXTENDS SUPPORT TO ST VINCENT AMIDST IMPENDING NATURAL DISASTER

The Premier Honourable Charles Washington Misick extended support to neighbouring islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday, 9 April 2021. Premier Misick through a virtual call with St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, relayed the Turks and Caicos Islands Government’s support as the country faces a natural disaster.

Premier Misick during the call to Prime Minister Gonslves stated, “The Turks and Caicos Islands Government wishes to extend our full support to the entire island of St Vincent as we in the TCI understand the danger and devastation a natural disaster can cause.  

My Government has already begun discussions on the deliverance of relief aid and/or resource support for St Vincent and a plan will be finalised during our upcoming Cabinet meeting.

The Turks and Caicos Islands are praying for the safety of your people and my Government is committed to providing any assistance we can, to ensure the preservation of lives.”

St. Vincent authorities have issued a disaster alert and evacuation orders are in place in various districts on the island which was prompted by a change in the eruptive activity at the La Soufrière volcano on Thursday, 8 April 2021.
