Submission of Fraudulent Documents to the TCI Assured Portal

The Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) in July 2020 implemented the TCI Assured Portal; a pre-entry health screening system that is a requirement for all persons seeking entry into the TCI as a risk mitigation tool in the fight against the Novel Corona Virus 19 (COVID-19).

All persons seeking entry must submit a valid COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken via nasopharyngeal swab within 3 days prior to their date of arrival into the Islands. An official laboratory report must be submitted.

The Ministry of Tourism’s verification team has seen an increase in fraudulent documentation including vaccination cards being submitted to the TCI Assured Portal. Persons are strongly advised to discontinue this practice and are reminded that in accordance with the Arriving Passengers Health Clearance Regulations section:

Offence 19. Any person who— (a) gives false information when completing the Travel Authorisation Form under regulation 4; or (b) otherwise contravenes the provisions of these Regulations, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of five thousand dollars or to a term of imprisonment for three months, or to both.

The Ministry is working with key stakeholders including the Department of Immigration, Ministry of Health and the Royal Turks and Caicos Police Force. We wish to emphasize that all suspected incidences will be reported to the Immigration Department and the Police. All the necessary action will be taken to ensure that persons found in contravention of the aforementioned regulations are persecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

DECR to commemorate International Day of Biological Diversity

The Department of Environment & Coastal Resources (DECR) is excited to commemorate International Day of Biological Diversity, hosted annually on 22 May, by participating in the United Nations Environmental Program’s ‘Restoration Begins with Me’ Campaign. And you can too!

The campaign ‘Restoration Begins with Me’ invites you to submit a photograph or a short video of an activity that shows how you value plants, trees or forests, and what they mean to you.

The United Nations (UN) has declared 2021-2030 as the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, in a rallying call for the protection and revival of ecosystems around the world. Led by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the UN Decade is building a strong, broad-based global movement to ramp up restoration and put the world on track for a sustainable future.

People across the Wider Caribbean are invited to submit a photograph with a short description, or a short video, of an activity such as tree planting or caring, or anything associated with such an activity that shows how they value plants, trees, forests, mangroves and what they mean to them. Accompanying descriptions should be no longer than 200 words and can be made in English, Spanish or French.

The campaign, launched on the International Day of Forests (IDF) under the theme “Restoration Begins With Me”, will culminate on World Environment Day (WED), when the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration will be formally launched.

The objectives of the campaign are to:

  • Raise awareness of the value of ecosystem restoration, the value of trees and forests, their contributions to ecosystem health and human wellbeing;
  • Introduce the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, sources of information, its significance and tips on how individuals can take action to join this global conservation effort;
  • Stimulate engagement and discussion on social media related to ecosystem restoration and biodiversity;
  • Increase knowledge of the work of the UN.

Photos and videos should be submitted to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by 17th May 2021. Qualifying videos will be featured in our special World Environment Day launch video, and in a regional environmental forum.

Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Environment, Heritage, Maritime, Gaming and Agriculture World Earth Day 2021

On 22nd April 2021 the Ministry of Tourism through the Department of Agriculture will celebrate World Earth Day under the theme “Together, we can restore our Earth”. As part of its Public-Private Partnership Programme the Department has partnered with Graceway Communities and the Department of Environment and Coastal Resources to raise awareness on the importance of growing food to the environment.

World Earth Day is celebrated across the globe to demonstrate support for environmental protection; it includes a wide range of events coordinated globally.

In commemoration of the day free expert advice will be provided, patrons will get to meet and support local farmers, including giveaways of free seedlings that will help with the start of local farming.

Minister of Agriculture Hon. Josephine Connolly commented, “I am pleased with this initiative and encourage persons to engage in backyard farming which is a step towards building our local food economy and certainly is a more sustainable way of living. The impact on the environment is a positive one and the overall mental health benefits are exponential. I look forward to seeing backyard gardens across the Islands as we seek to “Grow TCI” and restore the earth.”

Activity will be held at the Graceway IGA, Leeward Highway, between 10:00.a.m-4:00.p.m 22nd April 2021. Where Minister Conolly, members from the Department of Agriculture, DECR, Graceway Communities and local farmers will be present.
