Demarco Williams - Assistant Director Mapping

Demarco Williams

Mr Demarco Williams has been formally educated in the Turks and Caicos Islands to the tertiary level. He is a graduate of both the HJ Robinson High School and the Grand Turk Community College where he satisfactorily completed a Certificate program in Computer Applications.

Demarco has been employed with the Turks & Caicos Islands, Survey & Mapping Department since 2003 as a Land Information Systems (LIS) officer, specifically dealing with the country’s cadastre.

In 2012, he satisfactorily completed a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) with a minor in Sociology from Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada. Upon completion, he returned to the Survey and Mapping Department, where his newly acquired knowledge and skills were quickly recognized.

Mr Williams is currently employed as the Assistant Director of Mapping with direct responsibility for the management and reproduction of all mapping/GIS related activities within the Turks & Caicos Islands. His ambition to be recognized internationally has resulted in him being a candidate for Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification, an internationally recognized certification for leaders in the field of GIS.

Mr Williams’ personal objective for the TCIG is to create a legacy of learning, a system where each junior staff is responsible for teaching/training another, thus creating a chain reaction for lifelong learning.
