The Turks and Caicos Islands Complaints Commission has reaffirmed its membership with the Caribbean Ombudsman Association (CAROA) this year. CAROA’s mission is to uphold and advance the role of the Ombudsman across the Caribbean. By promoting its growth throughout the region, CAROA aims to:
1.Strengthen Ombudsman Offices: The organization works to enhance the effectiveness of Ombudsman offices within the Caribbean, ensuring they can address citizens’ concerns and grievances effectively.
2.Facilitate Cooperation: CAROA fosters collaboration among Ombudsman colleagues in the region. By sharing knowledge, resources, and best practices, they collectively contribute to better governance and accountability.
3.Networking and Enrichment: Through networking events, workshops, and conferences, CAROA provides a platform for continuous learning and enrichment. Ombudsman offices benefit from shared experiences and insights
By maintaining this affiliation, the Turks and Caicos Islands Complaints Commission contributes to the broader goal of promoting transparency, fairness, and citizen-centric governance across the Caribbean and beyond.
The Turks and Caicos Complaints Commission, a member of CAROA, expresses gratitude to the Sint Maarten Office for facilitating training for Ms. Samadia Lightbourne. During her attachment to Sint Maarten on November 10th, 2023, Ms. Lightbourne, the Investigative Officer, observed the daily duties and roles of the team. This hands-on training will enhance her effectiveness and efficiency in her role as the Investigative Officer for the Turks and Caicos Islands CCO. She had the opportunity to work closely with all staff, including Administrator Investigators, Legal Advisors, the Ombudsman for the St. Maarten’s Office, and the Chairman of the Caribbean Association of Ombudsman (CAROA)
