The TCI Sports Commission takes sports development further with the three-day Sports Performance Long-Term Athlete Development Clinic

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, October 24, 2023 - Under the leadership of experts Darren and Emily Veira of Athletic Engineering Canada, the Sports Performance Long Term Athlete Development clinic will deliver the foundational athletic development training for coaches and Physical Education (P.E.) teachers.

This follows on from the Long-Term Athlete Development Symposium held in June 2022, where the concept of LTAD was introduced to P.E. teachers, coaches, athletes and National Sports Governing Bodies. 
 
 
 
The main objectives of the clinic are to:
1. Develop broad knowledge of natural movement fundamentals
2. Understand strategies to improve structural integrity and motor coordination to enhance general movement competence, athleticism, and efficiency
3. Learn drills and games for development of athletic versatility, dexterity and problem-solving
 
In addition, significant time will be spent to understand what is movement efficiency, why it matters in the context of athletic development, and how to identify efficient vs. inefficient patterns of movement. This is to be able to identify red flags, correct poor movement patterns through training, and prevent future injuries. The training will be hands-on, requiring attendants to wear activewear and to bring a yoga mat.

TCISS Inter-High School Football 2023/24 Host Girls Championships This Weekend
 
Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, October 20, 2023 - Four school teams will face off on Saturday, October 20, 2023, for the Inter-High School Football 2023/24 Girls Championships. These teams will be determined today October 20th, after the semifinals. 
 
In Semi-final Match 1, Clement Howell High School will face off with last year's Girls' Champions Marjorie Basden High School at 3:00 pm. Following at 4:00 pm will be Semi-final Match 2, where last season's second-place team the British West Indies Collegiate will play the A. Louise Garland Thomas High School. 
 
Currently, Marjorie Basden High has no losses, placing them at the top of the league just above British West Indies Collegiate who have five wins and one loss. Regardless of who proceeds to the finals, the Championships will be one to remember.

The Inter-High Football Boys Championships commence next weekend
The boys will also continue their season tomorrow. HJ Robinson High School will play Maranatha Academy at 2:00 pm and Holy Family Academy will determine its fate after playing Maranatha Academy at 5:00 pm.
Next weekend on October 28th, the semi-finals and championships will take place at the National Stadium.

TCISS Inter-High Football Girls and Boys 2023/24 Season Opener an exciting start for a year of School Sports
 
Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, October 4, 2023 - The Turks and Caicos Islands School Sports (TCISS) Inter-High Football Season Opener for Girls and Boys began on Saturday September 30th, with a total of ten games to start. 
The opening ceremony of Inter-High Football took place at the TCI Football Association on Venetian Road, Providenciales with ten schools participating this year. After making their debut last year, Girls Football will run concurrently with Boys Football on a split pitch from September through October. 
 
The next games are scheduled for Friday October 6th starting at 3:00pm- 6:00pm and Saturday October 7th starting 11:00am - 2:00pm. This season will all culminate to the Girls' Championship game is scheduled for October 21st and the Boys Championships will be on October 28th at the National Stadium. All current students, fans and alumni are encouraged to fill the bleachers weekly each Friday and Saturday, with tickets for Adults $5 and Children $3.
