JOB SUMMARY:
This is a senior management position with nationwide responsibility, environmental risk assessment, code enforcement and compliance in accordance with the TCI Physical Planning Ordinance, National Physical Development Plan and Regulations.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Director of Planning and in matters related to developments.
- Manage the Implementation of the National Physical Development Plan
- Oversee the Public Relation Campaign and dissemination of the Nation Physical Development Plan.
- Prepare case files in relation to infractions of the Physical Planning Ordinance for presentation and representation of the department in the Courts.
- Contribute to the development and/or updating of TCI Environmental Monitoring Protocols/Environmental standards and codes of practice.
- Work closely with applicants reviewing the environmental aspect of proposed development applications.
- Prepare position papers, policy briefs and other documents relevant to environmental sustainability in TCI.
- Develop, participate in and maintain professional networks related to project development and environmental sustainability.
- Supervise regular development and monitoring activities in accordance with the approved monitoring protocols
- Represent the Department on technical committees, workshop and meetings.
- Oversee the Enforcement of Planning Laws and Regulations
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the Director/Deputy Director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree, Environmental Planning or Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or related courses.
Experience:
- The position requires a minimum of five (5) years experience in Urban Planning or Environmental monitoring/ management, of which three (3) years are direct involvement in code/regulation enforcement activities. one (1) at a senior Level.
- Knowledge about the TCI environmental and planning laws and subsidiary regulations, including the TCI Development Manual would be an asset
Compensation:
SALARY – Grade 8.1 $54,789.20 per annum
