JOB SUMMARY:

Under supervision, implements the youth and community HIV/AIDS and Non- Communicable Disease (NCD’s) oriented programs for compliance with national, regional and international guidelines. Interfaces with other youth related programs, organizations and groups as well as civic organizations, faith based organizations and Non- Governmental Organizations and assist in facilitating their sustained involvement in prevention and awareness activities.

The post requires a motivated, energetic individual with excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills. Must be a mature individual who is able to work with the public. The post holder must have very good organizational skills and be able to manage own time and projects. Must have proven skills and experience in planning, project management and coordination. Must have a keen willingness to learn new skills, research and quantitative and qualitative data analysis.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work directly with Program team (Director, deputy, senior program officer and program officer) to develop information, education and communication strategies, to affect behavioural impact.
  • Work closely with youth programs to ensure fulfilment of their mandates.
  • Plans and coordinates support activities as required, including advertising, promotion, facilities, audio- visual equipment
  • Develops radio, print and television promotions to support public education and social marketing programs of the Health Promotion and Advocacy Unit.
  • With the relevant stakeholders leads the implementation of the relevant surveys/research to ensure evidenced based planning.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with government and non-governmental agencies, health related organizations and the community to foster the development of Health Promotion network.
  • Plans, designs and coordinates acquisitions of health education and promotion pamphlets, equipment, materials and supplies. Monitor use by department staff.
  • Works with Senior and Program Officer, Director to strengthen peer educators program in schools and Rapport Youth Initiatives.
  • Contributing to the organization of, and coordinates Health Promotion training courses for department staff.
  • Conducts components of community health need assessment. Collect and collates health related information to assess health needs of the public
  • Contributes to data analysis and production of evaluation and monitoring reports.
  • Works closely with program team to develop an annual work-plan and budget as it relates specifically to youth and other populations at risk.
  • Maintains the health promotion resource library. Responsible for responding to requests for information and materials for the public, department staff and community partners.
  • Develops and maintains a database of local, regional and international stakeholders specifically as it relates to youth programming and vulnerable populations.
  • Implements interventions targeting other vulnerable groups within the community.
  • Adhere to all Public Service codes, rules and regulations.
  • Assist the Director with Budget Preparations
  • Assist with Policy initiatives
  • Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications:

Bachelors needed. Bachelors in relevant health related field would be preferred

Experience in health related field would be an asset

Experience:              

The position required a minimum of two (2) years working with communities, health promotion or Health Education to acquire the necessary competencies to respond effectively to the challenges of the job and will include:

·       experience in working with groups and youth programs.

·       some experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research.

·       use of excel and other common computer programs.

·       keeping strict confidences

·       demonstrated effective oral and written communications

·       demonstrated ability in accuracy, timeliness, punctuality.

·       Proficiency in the use of social media posting, boosting and monitoring application.

SALARY: Grade 7 (Health Sector Scale) $57,438 per annum

For persons recruited outside of the Turks & Caicos Islands a two-year extendable contract is offered. Other benefits in addition to basic salary include a Housing Allowance, End-of contract gratuity of 6%, return passages for a family of up to two children under the age of 18 years, freight cost and duty exemption on personal effects imported within six months of the appointment.
