Our mission is to be the impetus that promotes equality. Equity and advancement opportunities for the men, women and children of the TCI through the vehicle of well informed policy, cogently developed programming and the creation of opportunities to promote social justice and the elimination of prejudice and discrimination of every form.

Through the avenues of continuous research, educative mechanisms, institutional and organizational strengthening and a commitment to excellent service we aim to strengthen the opportunities for all to experience a society where their rights, dignity and ability to pursue development in any arena is made a reality
Goals and Objectives
- Providing an efficient, effective structure for Gender Equity and Social Justice.
- Advising government, civic and social organizations on issues affecting women and men.
- Liaising with local committees in neighboring islands, regional and international agencies dealing with women’s affairs.
Domestic and Family Legislation Reform / Review
In the areas of the Domestic family law reform and social issues, the Department of Gender has exerted some influence in shaping legislation and it has campaigned for the establishment of institutions like the Family Court. Subsequently, in 2003/2004 the Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands entered into a project with the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to reform the Legislation as it relates to women and children. As a follow-up to this proposed legislation another review was undertaken in 2013-2014, which resulted in passage of the Family legislation in the House of Assembly in June 2015.
