MINISTRY OF EDUCATION ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO THE NATIONAL EDUCATION FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE POLICY 2022

The Ministry of Education, Labour, Employment and Customer Services is pleased to announce changes made to the National Scholarship Policy 2018 now called, the Turks and Caicos Islands National Education Financial Assistance Policy 2022.

This revised policy has undergone a number of changes to reflect improvement for persons wishing to now apply for a scholarship.

The Ministry of Education has expanded the areas of studies for financial assistance, as well as the listing of accredited Universities, offering applicants the opportunity to study at first-rate educational institutions internationally. The areas of studies added are in keeping with the National Human Resource Development Plan of this country. This revision includes consideration for Special Needs Students, Mature Students, Cadets and students from all socio-economic backgrounds. It is hoped that these additions will make scholarship accessible to all eligible applicants, thus improving the lives of Turks and Caicos Islanders.

Categories for Financial Assistance are now termed:

  • Full Financial Assistance Award (FFAA)
  • Partial Financial Assistance Award (PFAA)
  • One Off Financial Assistance Award (OFAA)
  • Distance Leaning Financial Assistance (DLFA)

The Secretariat Unit, has commenced a public awareness campaign to sensitize the general public and prospective applicants of the changes to the Scholarship Policy, as well as the newly launched website. One of the key initiatives is the convening of educational sessions, facilitated by the experienced staff of the scholarship unit, which targets students at the various high schools and tertiary education institutions within the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The Secretariat Unit will vet applications and inform applicants of any missing information that needs to be submitted and the applicant will receive an electronic submission receipt.

The deadline for scholarships receipt is April 30th 2022.

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION ANNOUNCES THE SCHOLARSHIP SECRETARIAT UNIT’S NEWLY CREATED WEBSITE

The Ministry of Education, Labour, Employment and Customer Services is pleased to announce the official launch of the Scholarship Secretariat Unit’s website. This website was designed to make information easily accessible for the general public. Information about the scholarship application process, application forms and other relevant documents, the Ministry’s policies, frequently asked questions on common scholarship practices and contact information of staff at the Secretariat Unit can be found on the website.

It is envisaged that the website will serve as a public service platform for improved communication with students and the wider public. The website will highlight the achievements of former and current students who have earned a Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands Scholarship. It will also serve as a source of motivation for aspiring applicants.

The full implementation of the website will follow a phased approach, and within the upcoming financial year, additional functionalities will be added. The end goal of this progressive initiative is to ensure that this platform will promote continuity of information, access to services provided and ultimately support the Ministry’s thrust towards improving student support services.
