DECR of all fisheries exports (i.e. the export of any Scale Fish, Lobster or Conch seafood products). For the export of Lobster and Scale Fish, applicants can complete an 'Application for Export' Form and submit this as a hard copy to the nearest DEMA Office. Those travelling from the Turks and Caicos Islands are able to transport a maximum of 3 Queen Conch Shells (Strombus gigas) per person within their checked luggage. Other Conch products (including meat, pearls, or exports of more than 3 Queen Conch Shells per person) require a CITES Permit for export. The same 'Application for Export' Form can be used for this application. A period of 3-5 working days is often required for the processing of Export Permits.

CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wildlife Fauna and Flora), as seen in its un-abbreviated name, relates to the trade of endangered species. The most common trade as it relates to the TCI is the export of Conch. Those travelling from the Turks and Caicos Islands are able to transport/export a maximum of 3 Queen Conch Shells (Strombus gigas) per person within their checked luggage. For any exports of Queen Conch Shells in excess of this requires a CITES Export Form. This form is obtainable from your nearest DEMA office. A CITES Export Form is also required for the export of Conch Shells via postal services, shipping or courier - regardless of quantity. Other CITES exports relating to CITES may include the export/import of Orchids, Cacti, Corals and Sea Turtles. Take note, it is a general policy within the TCI that there be no export of any Corals (live or dead) or of any Sea Turtle products.
