Seafarer Qualifications and Certifications
Training and qualifications requirements for seafarers working on ships depend on size of ship, type of ships, area of operations and in what capacity the seafarer is required to work on board.
Standard Training Certificate Watch Keeping (STCW) 95 Convention provides training and certification requirements for sea-going officers and ratings. Turks and Caicos Islands Shipping registry issues endorsements to the holders of STCW Certificates of Competency issued by some IMO ‘White List’ countries whose procedures and facilities have been evaluated by the department or any of our Red Ensign Group partners.
These evaluations ensure that procedures and facilities are in compliance with the standards of competence, training and certification, as well as quality standards required by the STCW convention. The endorsements are issued in accordance with regulation I/2 of the STCW 78 Convention as amended in 1995.
