Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – 18 March 2026: - The Ministry of Health and Human Services is pleased to announce the reinstatement of full-time physiotherapy services on the island of South Caicos. Monthly physiotherapy services on South Caicos resumed two years ago through the visitation of the Primary Health Care Departments Senior Physiotherapist. However, the physical therapy needs for the people of South Caicos required more frequent service, therefore it was necessary to reinstate a full-time service.
Commenting on the reinstatement of this service, the Minister of Health and Human Services, Honourable Kyle Knowles stated that “The Ministry of Health remains committed to improving access to essential health care services for residents across the Turks and Caicos Islands. Physiotherapy services will now be provided by the Primary Health Care Department at the South Caicos Community Clinic. The service will continue to support patients requiring rehabilitation and physical therapy for a range of conditions including musculoskeletal and sports related injuries, neurological conditions e.g. stroke and community-based rehabilitation. The full-time reinstatement of this service ensures that the residents of South Caicos can be treated at home reducing the need to travel to other islands for care.”
Patients requiring physiotherapy services should obtain a referral from their primary care physician. Appointments will be scheduled based on clinical need and availability. The Ministry of Health and Human Services remains committed to strengthening healthcare services across all islands and ensuring equitable access to quality care for every resident.
Soon, residents will benefit from community-based physiotherapy services on the island of Grand Turk. Further information will be shared with the public once the services are ready to commence.
