Read – A- Thon
The annual Read-A-Thon is opened to participants between the ages of 7-12 years old. It encourages and develops the reading skills, while cultivating an appreciation of books.
Informative and interesting exhibitions are mounted in all public libraries to mark community events, as well as events on the national and international calendars.
Schools are encouraged to visit the public libraries where students are given tours of the facilities , encouraged to become members, use the services and engage in information literacy activities, among other things.
The Librarian conducts informational talks with stake-holders including students and community groups on topics relating to the library and the field of leadership such as programmes and service in public libraries in the Turks and Caicos Islands and the rewards of a career in Librarianship.
Hobby groups and special interest clubs
A variety of hobby and special groups exists, including GSAT support, Yoga for girls and Tiny Tots club.
