The Consumer Affairs Division of the Department of Trade, Industry and Consumer Affairs Celebrates World Consumer Rights Day

World Consumer Rights Day is observed annually on 15 March in over 120 countries across the globe. It was celebrated on Friday 13th March 2020 by the Department of Trade, Industry and Consumer Affairs to bring awareness to the rights of consumers as purchasers of goods and services.

The Consumer Affairs Division hosted an outreach event at the Treasury Building in Downtown Providenciales to inform consumers of their specific rights as provided for under the Consumer Protection Ordinance, 2016. This initiative will continue across the Turks and Caicos Islands with Grand Turk being the next scheduled stop. The dates of each event will be announced later.

The Consumer Protection Ordinance entered into force on 7 December 2019 and the Ordinance as amended entered into force on 24 February 2020.

The Department wishes to encourage consumers to visit its website at www.gov.tc/trade/consumeraffairs for additional information. A brochure that contains key provisions under the Ordinance is also accessible online or you can pick up a copy at our offices located at the Treasury Building, Downtown, Providenciales.
