MINISTRY OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND UTILITIES LAUNCHES NATIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOL LOGO DESIGN COMPETITION

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, 18 March 2026 – The Ministry of Public Safety and Utilities is pleased to announce the launch of a nationwide Secondary School Logo Design Competition, inviting students from across the Turks and Caicos Islands to help shape the official visual identity of the Ministry.

This initiative encourages creativity, civic engagement, and national pride among youth, offering students a unique opportunity to contribute to the branding of a Ministry entrusted with “safeguarding the well-being of our citizens and ensuring the reliable delivery of essential utility services that support the daily lives of our communities.”

The Ministry plays a vital role at the intersection of public safety and utility management, overseeing key departments including Fire and Rescue Services, the Department of Correctional Services, the Department of Rehabilitation and Community Services, Postal Services, and the Water Undertaking Department. It also maintains oversight of statutory bodies such as the Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Aviation Authority and the Telecommunications Commission.

In commenting, Hon. Otis C. Morris, Minister of Public Safety and Utilities, emphasized the importance of youth participation in shaping national identity.

Our young people are among the most creative and visionary contributors to nation-building. As the Scripture reminds us in Habakkuk 2:2, ‘Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it,’ and this competition provides an opportunity for that vision to be expressed clearly and meaningfully. It gives our youth a chance to leave their mark on a Ministry that touches every aspect of public safety, rehabilitation, and essential utilities across our Islands.

He further highlighted the Ministry’s broad mandate and the significance of a strong, unified visual identity.

The logo we select will symbolize our commitment to protection, resilience, innovation, and service to the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands. I encourage every secondary school student to take up this challenge with pride and imagination.”
