TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS GOVERNMENT STRENGTHENS CRISIS READINESS THROUGH TWO-DAY CRISIS COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA RELATIONS TRAINING

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – January 23rd, 2026 - The Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG), through the Office of the Premier & Public Policy and its Communications Directorate, has successfully concluded a two-day Crisis Communication and Media Relations Training aimed at strengthening government readiness, leadership communication, and institutional resilience in times of heightened public scrutiny.

Held at The Palms Conference Room in Providenciales, the specialised seminar brought together senior public officers, communications professionals, and key stakeholders to build practical capacity in crisis management, strategic media engagement, and disciplined leadership communication during complex and high-pressure situations.

The training was facilitated by international strategic communications consultants PLMR, whose experience spans high-stakes political environments, crisis advisory, and international media engagement. Participants undertook intensive, scenario-based exercises including simulated media interviews, live questioning, and rapid-response communication drills reflective of real-world crisis conditions.

Director of Communications in the Office of the Premier & Public Policy, Kimo Tynes, noted that the seminar represented a deliberate investment in strengthening institutional leadership and public trust. “In today’s fast-moving information environment, crises unfold quickly and narratives are shaped in real time. This two-day training ensured that the Turks and Caicos Islands Government is prepared to communicate with discipline, confidence, and credibility — not merely to respond, but to lead,” Mr. Tynes said.

The programme reinforced the importance of proactive communication as a core leadership function, emphasising message discipline, clarity of voice, and coordinated institutional response. Participants were encouraged to view communication not as a reactive exercise, but as a strategic tool essential to national stability, democratic governance, and long-term development.

The Crisis Communication and Media Relations Training forms part of the Communications Directorate’s broader strategy to professionalise government communications, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and ensure that the Turks and Caicos Islands Government remains well-prepared to manage future challenges with confidence, coherence, and authority.
