Legislative Drafting Division
The Legislation Drafting Division is TCI’s central law drafting office. The Division is responsible for translating the policies of the Government and statutory bodies into clear and effective legislation.
The work of the Legislation Drafting Division consists of the following:
- Drafting subsidiary legislation which includes, regulations, orders, directions, rules and notices;
- Drafting primary legislation in fulfilment of the Government's Legislative Agenda;
- Advise the Government on proposed legislation and statutory instruments;
- Drafting opinion on statutory interpretation and constitutional and administrative law issues
- Ensuring ready online access by the public to accurate and updated legislation
- Producing revised editions of laws of the Turks and Caicos Islands under the direction of the Law Revision Commissioners; and
- Participating in inter-ministry and public-private sector committees driving emerging policies and law reform
