Modification to NPDP 2024
Modifications to the National Physical Development Plan (NPDP) 2020 Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands
The Office of the Deputy Premier and Ministry of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development wishes to inform the general public of its intention to modify the National Physical Development Plan (NPDP) 2020 in accordance with Section 37 of the Physical Planning Ordinance 2021. This modification comes as the Ministry has received a number of requested changes during the expressions of interest exercise conducted.
The Ministry through the Department of Planning received over two hundred (200) expressions of interest which were tabled as modification to the NPDP and accepted by Her Excellency the Governor in the Cabinet in keeping with the requirements of Section 37 of the Physical Planning Ordinance 2021.
A draft proposal is available for public review at the Planning Department in Grand Turk and Providenciales. It is also available at all District Commissioners offices (North Caicos, Middle Caicos, South Caicos, Salt Cay), Public Libraries, Post Offices, the National Trust offices and the Department of Environmental and Coastal Resources offices. The notice shall also be in Newspaper publications and the Gazette.
Any person may, within eight weeks of the publication in the Gazette of this notice, may make either oral or written representations on the draft development plan to the Director of Planning. The public is invited and encouraged to review the proposal and to provide feedback at planningconsultation@gov.tc, or in writing at our Grand Turk or Providenciales offices.
The draft was placed in the gazette on July 12, 2024, the deadline for representation will be September 13, 2024.
After the expiration of the period prescribed for making representations on a draft development plan, the Director shall lay the draft development plan, together with all representations and comments made with respect thereto, before the Board; and the Board shall meet and consider the draft development plan and such representations and comments and shall forward the same together with its own recommendations and comments to the Minister, who shall submit the same to the Governor with his own recommendation thereon.
The overall process will follow the guidelines of Sections 34-37 of the Physical Planning Ordinance, 2021.
