The Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Service mourn the loss of Assistant Director of Fisheries, Protected Areas and Revenue Collection within the Department of Environment and Coastal Resources – Mr. Leroy Brooks.

Mr. Brooks was a hardworking and dedicated civil servant, having dedicated over 30 years of civil service to the Turks and Caicos Government. He joined the civil service in 1987 as a Fisheries Officer and acted as the Deputy Chief Fisheries Officer in 1990, 1991 and 1992. He became the officer in charge of South Caicos on July 1st, 1997 and on November 1st, 2001 was appointed to the post of Senior Conservation Officer, before being promoted to the post of Deputy Chief Conservation Officer on September 1st, 2004 and to the post of Assistant Director of Fisheries, Protected Areas and Revenue Collection on April 1st, 2015.

Commenting on his passing Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service Her Excellency Anya Williams said; “On behalf of my family and the entire civil service of the Turks and Caicos Islands, I extend my profound sympathy to the family of Mr. Leroy Brooks most especially his wife Mrs. Louanna Higgs Brooks and their children Leanna, Lakish, Leandra and Leroy Brooks Jr.”

Mr. Brooks shared a deep love for the fishing industry in the Turks and Caicos and did not see himself as carrying out a job, but rather fulfilling a passion! His passing will be a great loss to not only his department but also the entire civil service and his entire family.

We are eternally grateful for his service to these islands and Pray that God will grant his family peace at this difficult time.

May His Soul Rest In Eternal Peace!

Deputy Governor Anya Williams
